Faithful at the Crossroads: Expanding Ministry at Peachtree Christian Church

SHARE THE VISION: We serve a God of grace and mercy who is eager to work through us to grow his kingdom. We are blessed with church leaders who envision a future in which Peachtree Christian Church is a beacon of hope for this generation and generations to come in Midtown Atlanta.

Peachtree’s leaders have identified four goals for the congregation:

• Expand our signature community ministries
• Increase weekly worship to 1,000 people
• Involve every able member in a significant relational group
• Enlarge our facilities for greater ministry

This capital campaign is an integral part of realizing those goals, and of expanding Christ’s ministry at Peachtree Christian Church.

What is the Plan?

Our beautiful building has been an effective tool for ministry for decades. In the past several years, the completion of Peachtree Childtown and the Donielle Shaw Pressley Children’s Center have provided new opportunities for ministry and growth. The building project before us has the same potential to expand our effectiveness for Christ.

How Will our Faithfulness Enhance Our Ministries?

• Giving teenagers a chance – through C.A.S.T. and other youth group activities – to form close bonds with one another and a deeper relationship with Christ
• Strengthening the faith and knowledge of God among our adult members through the Christian education ministry
• Involving more of the congregation as active participants in worship through an expanded music ministry
• Instilling values and character in young boys through their involvement with the Boy Scouts of America
• Drawing new members to Peachtree by creating a dynamic contemporary worship
• Providing a place for the members of our church to gather for meals, fellowship and service

The project includes seven key components:

1. Improved building access, including the creation of a spiritual path to the sanctuary, two new elevators, a covered entryway, new lobbies and welcome facilities.
2. Fellowship hall seating 500 theatre-style for worship and stage performance, or 300 for meals
3. Expanded classroom space for adults and youth
4. Expanded music rehearsal facilities
5. New administrative office space with updated equipment
6. Addition of 15-20 new parking spaces and more efficient routing of cars through the lot
7. New memorial garden and larger columbarium in our courtyard

What Will It Cost?

In order to complete this project, we need to raise $10.5 million, allocated as follows:

• Construction $ 6,800,000
• Equipment $1,400,000
• Soft Costs $900,000
• Contingencies $1,400,000
• Total $10,500,000

When Would Construction Begin?

Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2007 and be completed by fall 2008.

In order to raise the funds to accomplish this vision, we are beginning a capital stewardship campaign, Faithful at the Crossroads. This name reflects our church’s long history of faithfulness at the crossroads of Atlanta , as well as our vision for remaining true to Christ’s calling for us in the years ahead
