Meet our professional staff. They joyfully bring many years of service to Christ to energize the ministries of Peachtree Christian Church. Get to know them in person this Sunday!

Rev. Tom Harris, Interim Senior Minister

Rev. Tom Harris is the intentional interim pastor of Peachtree Christian Church. Rev. Harris has his Masters of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and has been a pastor for 25 years.

For the past ten years, Tom has specialized in intentional interim ministry and church consulting. He has served 8 churches in 10 years as interim, serving churches in North Carolina, Arizona, California, Nebraska and now Georgia.

Rev. Harris’ mission, as interim pastor, is to prepare our church for its future. He is undertaking this task by leading a church-wide self-study, forming a ministry development team that will discover and articulate our church’s mission, vision and values and strategic plan for the future. In the Fall of 2008, he will be coaching our Pastoral Search Committee as we search for our next Senior Pastor.

When he is free, Tom likes to tour Atlanta and the Southeast, play golf, watch sports and eat seafood.

Rev. Randal Barnhart, Associate Minister

Rev. Randal Barnhart serves as Associate Minister to the Peachtree Christian Church.  After having served churches in North Carolina and Georgia, Randy came to PCC to work in the areas of Adult Education, Community Service, Young Adults and Singles, and Evangelism.  He holds an undergraduate degree in religion from Atlanta Christian College, a master's degree in theology from Emmanuel School of Religion, and a law degree from Georgia State University. 
 
Instrumental in the development of our LIFE Group ministry at Peachtree Christian, Randy's passions include small group ministry, evangelism, preaching, baseball and golf.  He is an active a Board member of the European Evangelsitic Society.
 
Randy has been married to the former Wendy Waites of Roswell, GA.  for 28 years. God has blessed them with the gift of two sons, Andrew and Benjamin.

Rev. James L. Bell, III, Minister of Music and Special Ministries

Jim Bell, Minister of Music and Special Ministries holds degrees in Voice and Choral Music from Belhaven College and Kansas State University. In addition, Rev. Bell has done post-graduate study at The University of Northern Colorado and The University of North Texas. A Minister licensed by the Regional Church, his ministry at Peachtree began in 1987.

As a Rotary International Graduate Fellow, he also studied at The University of Vienna and the Hochschule fur Musik in Vienna, Austria. Prior to coming to Atlanta, Rev. Bell was a professor of voice and choral music with the Texas University System. As a singer, Rev. Bell has worked with many of the major conductors in the world. In Atlanta, he sang with the late Robert Shaw appearing with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus, The ASO Chamber Chorus, and The Robert Shaw Chamber Singers (home based in Souillac, France). Under the baton of Maestro Shaw, Rev. Bell has performed throughout Europe and has appeared at Avery-Fisher Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York City. Rev. Bell maintains an active career as a singer, teacher and conductor. He is married to Martha Steed Bell and they have two children, Laura Elisabeth and James IV.

Herbert Buffington, Organist

A native of Atlanta, Herbert Buffington has been the PCC organist and assistant choirmaster since 1996. He received his B.A. from Duke University and the Master of Music degree from The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. European study was with Peter Planyavsky at St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, Austria. He has presented concerts in the U.S. and Europe, and is also a composer of organ and choral works. Herb was formerly organist and choirmaster at the Decatur Presbyterian Church.

Rev. Pete Dingeldey, Minister of Church Administration

Peter E. Dingeldey joined Peachtree Christian Church as Church Administrator in 2002. His ministry includes responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the church including the building and grounds, maintenance, finance, personnel and food service. Rev. Dingeldey is a licensed lay minister in the Georgia Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He serves as the staff resource person for the Finance, Publicity and Building & Grounds Ministries.

His background includes senior management responsibilities for an Internet newspaper and a manufacturing company. For several years he was a consultant in executive search and general management in New York, Los Angeles and Orlando. Earlier he served as an officer in the U.S. Navy Supply Corps in financial and logistics management positions. He retired as a Captain in the naval reserve.

Rev. Dingeldey is a graduate of the Florida State University (Marketing Management). He holds an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and is a member of the National Association of Church Business Administrators. Pete and his wife, Bea, have three grown children: Karen Weiss (Irvine, California), Amy Heskett (Atlanta) and Matthew Dingeldey (Atlanta).

Rev. Nancy Oliver, Minister of Children and Youth

Nancy Oliver serves as Minister of Children and Youth at Peachtree Christian Church. She has been employed by the church for over 20 years, and was licensed by the Regional Church in 1987. Her strong background of teaching, administration and the gifts of drama and her Music Education degree from Peabody have blessed her ministry.

Before coming to Peachtree, Rev. Oliver taught music in the public schools and worked in professional theatre, commercials, film, and educational television. She and her husband Steve performed on cruise ships and for conventions and industrial shows. She worked as a Theatre Arts Education Director, Drama Instructor, and Musical Director for Equity Theatre productions.

Over the years, Nancy has worked extensively with children and youth in a variety of settings. She has served as a sponsor on the General Youth Council for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), an elected position, and on the Region’s Youth Activities Council. She continues to use her directing skills with Peachtree’s Christian Acting/Singing Troupe, known as CAST, which Nancy founded in 1984. In 1999, members of CAST were invited to perform for the General Assembly held in Cincinnati. Nancy values her call to ministry and the license to serve.

Ms. Robin Turner Schulz, Children's Education Director

Robin serves as our Children's Christian Education Director. She has worked in the Children's area for ten years, the past three on staff as Director.

Robin has a Bachelor’s degree in Business / Marketing from University of Georgia. She worked for Turner Broadcasting / CNN for five years full-time and then three years part-time prior to starting this position. She adores working with children and spent her high school and college years teaching children how to ice skate at Stone Mountain Park.

Miss Courtney Lambert, Youth Director

Courtney Lambert was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She grew up in the Youth Family here at Peachtree Christian Church. She first felt her calling into ministry on a Mission Trip to Mississippi, and has since developed a love for service and all of God’s people.

Courtney obtained a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy and dramatic arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May 2007. She is currently pursuing her Master of Divinity degree from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

Mrs. Lynn Urda, Children’s Music Director

An accomplished conductor and music director, Lynn Urda serves as the Children’s Music Director. She is also the full-time Conductor and Music Director of the nationally-recognized Gwinnett Young Singers. This group performs annually with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. She has distinguished herself for her unique ways of achieving excellence in choral blend, intonation and sensitive singing. Lynn received her degree in Music Education and Voice from the Florida State University. Formerly, a public school music specialist, she is a member of Chorister’s Guild and the American Choral Directors Association.

Rev. Bob Tyler, Minister of Pastoral Care

Following 20 years as Senior Minister of Peachtree City Christian Church, upon his retirement, Bob and Ruth Ann came to Peachtree to worship and became members in 1999. Dr. Collins asked Bob to share in pastoral visitation. In addition, Rev. Tyler became Interim Church Administrator, and now continues as Minister of Pastoral Care, which involves pastoral oversight and visitation of Senior Adults in hospitals, care facilities and at home. He teaches the Peachtree Singles Plus Class and serves as Staff resource for Membership, Prayer, Health, and Stephen Ministries.

Bob's wife, Ruth Ann, is from Columbus, IN. They met as Students at Cincinnati Bible Seminary where they received the B.S.L. (Bachelor of Sacred Literature) degree. In continuing education Bob pursued further studies in hospital ministry and Clinical Pastoral Education at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. . Before coming to Peachtree City in 1980, they served Christian Churches in Cincinnati, Ohio; Kingsport, Tennessee; and East Point, Georgia. They now reside in the Senior community at Christian City, where Bob serves as a volunteer chaplain. They have one daughter, Betsy, who lives in Peachtree City.
