9. Jesus' Crucifixion and Resurrection
|
9. Jesus' Crucifixion and Resurrection (for the salvation of all humanity)In this clerestory window, we are confronted with the consequence of sin, which is death. Jesus took upon Himself our sins, and died in our place on the cross. He did what only perfect love could do. He gave His life to bridge the chasm of sin which separates us from God. However, death could not hold the one who was pure in faith, perfect in love, and free from all sin. The third panel of this window beautifully illustrates the risen Jesus who reversed the power of sin and conquered death. God raised Him up from the grave, and made Him the Savior of all the world. "For God so loved the world, that he gave His only Son that all who believe in Him should not perish but have eternal life." 9a. The Laborers in the Vineyard |
9a. The Laborers in the VineyardThis window shows Jesus' parable of "The Laborers in the Vineyard." The story of a master's generosity to all his laborers, no matter when they came to work, illustrates God's generosity to everyone who comes, both early and late to do God's Holy Will. This message relates to that of the larger window above it, where God raised Jesus from the grave and made Him Savior and Lord. Everyone who confesses Jesus Christ with their lips and believes in their heart that God raised Him from the dead will be saved. (Romans 10:19) God is generous with His love, mercy and grace to all who believe. Scripture:
